God is the shade at your right and

"I look up to the mountains. Where will the help come from ?" Psalm 121.1

Just before I left for my military service, my mother offered me a Bible. On one of the first pages she wrote me Psalm 121. At that time I had not yet accepted the Lord. However, a few months later, when I gave my life to Jesus, this passage of Scripture was of paramount importance to me.

Remember : God is there, he is the shadow at your hand. Very quickly, I found myself alone in Sicily for several weeks. Cut off from fraternal communion and biblical teaching to guide me in my first steps, I had to face all sorts of oppressions and temptations. I was literally stunned by the stress it caused me. It was in those moments that this Psalm revealed to me its deep meaning.

Every word, every promise I read, gave me puffs of oxygen. It is said in verse 5 that "the Lord is the shadow to [our] right hand." Then, as soon as I doubted the presence of God at my side, I automatically raised my hand before the sun of Sicily and, seeing the shadow of my right hand, I was appeased. God was there, he had not abandoned me. I must confess, even if I am a Pastor today, that I still do it ... But do not tell anyone.

Throughout your life, you will have to face decision-making, major challenges, conflict resolution, new connections and certainly you will have to live disappointments or temptations ... But beyond all Do not forget : God is there, he is the shadow at your hand.

A prayer for today

Lord, even when the trial is painful, you are there, near me. You are the shadow in my hand. Thank you for your love and your presence in my life. Amen.
