Have the faith of a child

Naaman became angry and went away saying : "I thought this man would come in person to me, that he would stand there to call on the Lord his God, and that he would pass his hand over [Naaman went down to the Jordan and dipped there seven times, as the man of God had commanded him, and his flesh became as clear as that of a young man, child : it was completely purified." 2 Kings 5.11-14

Although Naaman was a "strong and valiant man," he remained helpless before the attack of leprosy. According to the advice of his wife's servant, he turned to Elisha, but became angry when the prophet said to him : "Go and wash seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh shall be clean, and you shall be clean" (2 Kings 5:10).

Trust him completely. Give him your needs and receive his great power in your life.

Naaman no doubt imagined that Elisee would have to do something spectacular or remarkable. He did not understand why he had to go and swim in the Jordan. His servants knew how to convince him : "If the prophet had asked you for something difficult, would you not have done it ?" How much more must you do what he said to you : "Wash yourself and thou will be pure !" And when Naaman obeyed the words of Elisha, he was instantly healed.

Like Naaman, it may seem difficult to us to simply obey God and His Word, and to act by faith. We may be tempted to doubt that everything is possible for him and that his Word is the truth. It may seem unrealistic to believe that it is enough for us to obey Him and practice His Word. But God wants us to remember that he rewards those who have faith and who obey without reserve.

Today, bring your needs to God as simply as a child would. Do not argue with him, hold back nothing, do not rationalize. Trust him completely. Give him your needs and receive his great power in your life.

A prayer for today

Father, I present my needs to you. I set aside my pride, my prejudices and my preconceived ideas. I will obey you and I will trust you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
