If we were to die tomorrow ?
Luke 12:20 - But God said to him : “You fool ! this very night your soul will be asked for again ; and what you have prepared, for whom will it be ?".
You will agree with me that none of us knows exactly the day and hour when he will cross "the veil" to find himself in the Hereafter ! "Life" offers no guarantee as to how many days we are granted because death strikes young and old, rich or poor, Christian or not... with the same implacable reality. The human being avoids thinking about this moment, yet we should, to fully enjoy our present, answer this question from the song : "If we were to die tomorrow, what would we do ?".
If we knew that this morning is the last we are going to live, I am sure that our thoughts, our choices for this day would be greatly upset ! Our worries for the future would fall like a house of cards, we would probably live the 86,400 seconds of this day with intensity, we would hold tight to our hearts those we cherish, we would not spend our time on trivialities but we would come back to the essential ! For some they would turn to God begging his forgiveness, in short it would not be an ordinary day for anyone, right ?
Fortunately, for many of us there will still be many mornings after this one and I don't want to be morbid in this reflection. My challenge is : since I don't know the day or the hour, why not live this day as intensely as if it were the last ? Why am I worried ? Why not make the most of every second ? Why not show my love and tenderness for those I love ? Why waste my time on "con..." ? Why not heal my relationship with God ?
Come on, leave the computer or the phone, you've got some work to do ! May God bless you mightily on this wonderful day that will be unlike any other.
Good reflection.
