In the name of God !

John 16.2 - ... the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is worshiping God.

The date of September 11, 2001 will remain engraved in many memories. The images of the attacks and the collapse of the two towers in New York, claiming thousands of lives, have shocked the world. The perpetrators of the attacks were motivated by religious fanaticism, offering their lives to "please" God ! Even though the 21st century woke up to this reality, this phenomenon has always existed and human beings have committed the worst atrocities under the guise of faith in God.

My thinking today is: where does fanaticism take root ? Could we say without a shadow of a doubt that there is no such thing as fanaticism in evangelical circles ? Are the gospel values ​​of compassion, mercy and grace still proclaimed loud and clear by its followers ? We must admit that unfortunately not. We meet a lot of intransigence and some are sharper than razors in their words.

The truth remains the truth, we are not saying it should be watered down. But the truth without love is not in the "spirit" of the gospel. Yes, this is where fanaticism takes its root, it is in the lack of love. When the priority is to be right, we move away from the real priority : to love God and love your neighbor !

My beloved, let us watch over our state of mind as we share the truth of the gospel. Let us allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by God's compassion for those who "get lost" or go astray. Let us not stand in a position of entrenchment to "fight" but let us open ourselves to welcome and tolerance. The important thing is not to convince but to let the Holy Spirit convince through our words seasoned with salt !

Also always be ready to question ourselves, this is how we grow.
