Is the fire lit ? (7)
Acts 2.47 - And the Lord added daily to the Church those who were being saved.
I would like to end this series on fire with this observation : fire spreads quickly. We see the effects of "Pentecost" on the nascent Church : every day the fire spread to other hearts. Again the thought that arises is : why today the children of God allow themselves to be extinguished when they should set others on fire ?
I think one of the first causes is that we are no longer dry wood. At the start of our conversion, we felt “miserable” and completely dependent on divine grace. Then, over the years, we coated ourselves with a layer of "greenish moss" of "know it all" and this self-sufficiency made us a wood that no longer burns.
For others, the fire has been partitioned, "tamed", smothered... it's so much better for decorum, because frankly fire in its purest form is messy. Yes, but the fire becomes inaccessible and to set others ablaze, mission impossible.
Finally, and there are probably other reasons, we forgot to feed the fire with oxygen : the oxygen of the relationship with God. At the beginning of our Christian life, everything was simple : no prejudices, a childish faith, a deep desire to find our Jesus, an intensive search for what pleases Him... We let ourselves be caught up in occupations, concerns, worries. of all kinds...
Beloved, one thing is certain, we need to find this communicative fire to ignite our neighborhood, our city, our nation !
Good reflection.
