The newspaper and the wind

God speaks, however, sometimes in one way, sometimes in another, and we are not careful. Job 33.14

While in Australia, English preacher Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) was pleased to hear an old man tell him the story of his conversion to Jesus Christ :

“Five years ago I was herding a flock of sheep when I picked up a newspaper page blown across the prairie. After taking a look at the first few lines, I wanted to read on. I realized then that this was a summary of one of your sermons. If I had known beforehand that this was a religious writing, I would have immediately thrown it away because I did not care about God at all. But, piqued by curiosity, I got to the end of the article. It got me thinking, and I kept it safe, rereading it over and over again. Finally, God used your words to enlighten me on the significance of Jesus' death. I came to the Savior thanks to them”.

Yes, God uses many means to challenge us and draw us to him : for this Australian, it was a sermon, a newspaper page and the wind. For you, it might be a meeting, a book, a setback... or this calendar ! God is not limited. Let’s open our eyes and see his hand in what is happening to us. Because it happens much more often than you think.
