Just a question of time !

Isaiah 49.8 - Thus says the Lord : "In the time of grace I will hear you, and in the day of salvation I will help you ; I will keep you...".

This promise seems future, yet in the Hebrew form, it is at perfect time, that is to say, it has already been fulfilled. As the Lord is in eternity, that is to say out of time, it is not always easy to understand that He can speak of a thing in our future as of a thing already past. A good example is Isaiah 53 who speaks of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross as a past event when it will take more than 700 years before it happens.

One thing is certain, it is that the Lord already sees our future. You understand that when He announces the answer, the help and his protection, it is for Him something already done. This should give us full confidence in the truthfulness and sure fulfillment of God's promises for our lives.

In the time between the promise and the fulfillment, we have a strong tendency, and this is very human, to be discouraged. If we took the height and if we asked God to make us see the circumstances of our life as He sees them, He would certainly answer us ! The passing of time is not useless if we consider it in this light. We will be pushed into active waiting instead of passive.

As with you, there are promises of God on our lives that have not yet come true, at least in our history. But for our Lord they are already a truth, He who calls things which are not as if they were (Romans 4:17). I sincerely hope my beloved ones that these few lines will make you look forward with deep hope and even stronger trusting expectation in your God, who is the Eternal Father !
