Saved by his Bible

Grace tells the story of her father, a soldier in the First World War. Frank Viner, a 21-year-old Briton, finds himself in the trenches of the Somme. Her father gave her a Bible for her birthday. He always puts it in the right pocket of his jacket, on his chest. In the trenches, for some reason, he changes her pocket and puts it in the left pocket. He then hears the words of Psalm 91, verse 7, flash through his mind. Then, a huge bus explosion hits his trench. His comrades around him are killed. Frank is thrown to the ground, his uniform torn and his helmet blown off. He should have died too, but the massive shrapnel that hit him sank into his Bible, crossing it from end to end. He is taken to the hospital. He then found himself far from the front line for the remainder of the war. This experience strengthened his faith. Frank has always said his Bible saved his life. He felt the protection of God. It was an amazing experience.

The Bible can save your life. Of course, not necessarily as this soldier experienced it, but by the message it contains. As you read it, you will discover the One who provided his protection, because he trusted in him, as the author of the psalm quoted also experienced.
