"If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit." Galatians 5.25
If the Christian life consists in having a personal relationship with God, then let us wait for God to speak to us today.
"Is it the voice of God or my own thoughts ?"
A true relationship can not be established on the basis of a monologue. First a personal commitment, then a good communication between the two people who alternately speak and listen.
"You follow the Spirit of God because he dwells in you" (Romans 8: 9). This means that your reactions must be controlled and your decisions driven by the Spirit. When you walk with God, your life is not limited only to what you see, feel or understand. You must also walk by faith, learning to recognize the voice of God to follow his instructions.
Some are reluctant, because they have seen Christians do so in an apparently excessive manner. Thus, when the Holy Spirit speaks to them, they doubt, they reason and conclude that it is not for them. Others desire to obey the Spirit, but they are not sure that the Spirit speaks to them. "Is it the voice of God or my own thoughts ?" they say. This shared experience is part of the Christian life. That is why Paul wrote : "If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit."
Walking by the Spirit is learned step by step, and even the most experienced believer can sometimes stumble.
An Encouragement for Today
Do not be afraid : "When the conduct of a man pleases him, the Lord gives him to advance with confidence in life. If this man falls, he does not remain on the ground, for the Lord takes him by the hand" (Psalms 37: 23-24).
