"May the Lord your God reveal to us the way we must follow and what we have to do." Jeremiah 42.3
Twelve bees are locked in a jar in a dark room. A light comes to illuminate the bottom of the jar, then we remove the lid. Instinctively, the bees fly towards the light and die stumbling on the bottom.
Do not let your fears and misconceptions keep you from growing up.
The researchers are extending the experiment with twelve ordinary flies. In a few seconds the flies find the exit of the jar. Admittedly, bees are smarter than flies and their survival instinct is better. Yet it is this very instinct that condemns bees.
Hold the lesson. You can be very smart, and fail because of your assumptions. Prejudice, rigidity, and the force of habit can cause you to do unnecessary and insane things. James Dobson admits : "Until 1992, I wrote pencil books on old notebooks, years after the word processors came in. The twentieth century was almost over before I decide to join him".
Are you afraid of giving up old beliefs, learning new skills, or starting a new project ? When you have finished learning, you are finished ! The only limits are those that we put ourselves in refusing to learn.
A teaching for today
"Give to the wise man, and he will become wiser, give knowledge to the righteous, and he will increase his knowledge." Proverbs 9.9
"An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge." Proverbs 18.15
Do not let your fears and misconceptions keep you from growing up ; let yourself be taught.
