Let yourself be transformed by the Spirit of God !
Searching the Scriptures
The Spirit of God also rested on him, and Saul continued on his way prophesying until he came to Najoth, near Rama. 1 Samuel 19:23
The show had something to surprise. So much so that observers wondered : "Is Saul also among the prophets ?"
Driven by jealousy, Saul was about to kill David when he learned that he had fled to Najoth. When Saul's emissaries arrived in the city, instead of seizing David, they were stopped by the sight of Samuel and a group of men prophesying. The Spirit of God fell on them and they too began to prophesy. Determined to capture David, Saul sent other emissaries, who met the same fate. It was the same for the third group !
Saul decided to go to Rama in person. But like his messengers, he came under the control of the Spirit of God and he too began to prophesy. Perhaps this experience was meant to remind him of another, earlier one : after Samuel anointed him king, the Spirit of God powerfully took hold of Saul and "God gave him another heart" (1 Samuel 10:1-10). This action of the Spirit on Najoth was to make him remember the call of God on his life and what could happen when he was under the influence of the Spirit.
Unfortunately, it wasn't long before Saul returned to his old ways. But at least on this particular occasion he had experienced the sovereignty of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said : "The wind blows where it wants, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. This is also the case with everyone who is born of the Spirit" (John 3.8). Even today, the Spirit does what it wants, for its own reasons. And his power has no limits.
Pray today for an outpouring of the Spirit in our world. Pray that we may experience his power as on the day of Pentecost. Hand over your life to him. He can transform you. And change the world !
Listen to the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God means. Where do you need to let go to let the Holy Ghost transform your life ?
Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example prayer : "Holy Spirit, I surrender my life in your hands. Act through me. Speak to me. Teach me. Fill me with your power. In the name of Jesus. Amen."
Praise God
To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the Lord
Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Lord, I thank you because you sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit to teach us in all your ways. Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, amen !"
