Living word

Indeed, the Word of God is alive and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword. Hebrews 4:12

In the clinic where I stay after surgery, I am caught up with the Word of God printed on a calendar sheet that I had written two years earlier. In this leaflet it was about knowing how to take time to ask ourselves "Where will we spend our eternity ?". It was also about turning to God, recognizing our misery before him, and then receiving salvation through Christ's death for us. This leaflet bears the date of the day after my operation! With great humor, God chose this way to encourage me to stay focused on the essentials.

Dear reader, God can also touch you through the verse of the day, or through the reading of his Word proposed to accompany the leaflet.

Having opened my heart to God that day, I experienced an encounter with God, the loving Father. These moments aside transformed me deeply, purifying what needed to be in my life. God made me let go of things that I hadn't been able to let go of until then.

Each of us can experience these exceptional moments of meeting the Heavenly Father, and be touched by his Word, which invites us to approach his royal throne where we receive his love.

Proposed reading : Letter to the Hebrews, chapter 4, verses 10 to 16.

4.10 In fact, whoever enters into God's rest also rests from his activity, just as God rested from his.

4.11 Let us therefore hasten to enter into this rest so that no one falls by giving the same example of disobedience.

4.12 For the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the point of separating soul and spirit, joints and marrow ; it judges the feelings and thoughts of the heart.

4.13 No creature is hidden from him : everything is naked and uncovered in the eyes of him to whom we are accountable.

4.14 So, since we have a sovereign high priest who crossed heaven, Jesus, the Son of God, let us remain firmly attached to the faith that we profess.

4.15 For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses ; on the contrary, he was tempted in every way like us, but without committing sin.

4.16 Let us therefore approach with confidence the throne of grace in order to obtain compassion and to find grace in order to be resorted to at the opportune moment.
