Miserable that I am...
So I discovered this law : while I want to do good, evil is within my reach. Indeed, I take pleasure in the law of God, in my interior being, but I note that there is in my members another law. Romans 7:21-23
Mr. X keeps his fruit and vegetable stand every week in the market in the small neighboring town. He knows how to attract customers with his often provocative patter combined with a disarming smile.
Last Saturday, he released :
- Oh ! you know me, i will never change. I am c..., and I will remain so. Nothing can change me.
- You can't change yourself, but God can ! And I've seen people changed, I told him.
There, the conversation suddenly took on a more serious tone...
"I will not change..." Who has not thought about this one day ? Our habits, our education, our deep nature condition us. And our efforts, commendable as they are, collide and crash into it. The apostle Paul saw this and cried out : “Wretch that I am! Who will deliver me from this body doomed to death ? But he immediately adds : "Praise be to God : it is possible through Jesus Christ our Lord !" (Romans 7:24-25)
Are you also struggling to extricate yourself from evil in order to do good ? Tell God : he wants to free you from everything that prevents you from doing so. And only he can !
