"We are who we fled to seize the hope set before us we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and firm, which reaches to within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us ..." Hebrews 6. 18-20

 
This letter is addressed to Jewish Christians who had given up the ritual and the established habits of an old religion of fifteen centuries. Often persecuted and stripped of their property, they were strongly tempted to return to their old practices related to the law of Moses
To help them not to back down, the inspired writer of Hebrews is planning their eyes forward, while building on the divine prescriptions of the past. It refers to the most holy place of the tabernacle, but he said them that it was only a figure of heaven, God remains unchanged. It is in this house of God that entered Jesus after His glorious resurrection and that is where the believers will join them. Their hope is the goal for which it was well worth it to "run away" of all the past and abandon any idea back !
For us believers the twenty-first century, against whom all sorts of behaviors and habits of mind materialists, this perspective is also an essential aspect of our faith. Without this hope, we would like vessels tossed by the currents and winds. Fortunately we have an anchor !
It is not placed on the shifting sands of religious human reasoning ; it is firmly hooked into the unshakable place where Jesus is now : not in a land destined to disappear, but in the very presence of God can not change.
A string connects us to this absolutely sure and steadfast anchor : our faith in God and in His promises recorded in his Word, our faith in our Savior glorified in the highest heavens. So our hope is Jesus in glory. We are not yet arrived at the port, but the anchor is already discarded. By clinging firmly to this system, we will be berthing in the safest harbor of the universe !
