"I watch, and am as a sparrow alone on a roof ... My days are like a long shadow, and I am withered like grass." Psalm 102. 7, 11


Who can understand the suffering experienced by a lonely person? The true believer knows that the Lord does not abandon; But occasionally it to feel pain when he has no one near him.
Psalm 102 is entitled "Prayer of the afflicted when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before the Lord." The suffering that emerges is that of a man alone in his pain, which believes in the evening of his life. To express his extreme loneliness, he compares to "pelican of the desert", the "Owl desolate places," the "lone sparrow on a roof" (v. 6, 7); these birds evoke the desert, desolation, loneliness. The author is surrounded by enemies who insult him, he desperately lonely. He longs for the time when God will answer his prayer, for God seems to him deaf to his complaint. But God's answer comes to him (v. 25-28). He understands that his destiny is supported by the supreme and immutable grace of God; God will not forget his servant and his descendants (v. 28).
Many men of God have felt the loneliness in personal suffering and loneliness in suffering for others. During his last detention, the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy: "All have abandoned me." However, he adds: "But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me" (2 Tim 4. 17).
A Christian can feel alone; but in reality it is never alone because Jesus stands next to him, even if he is not always aware. Jesus says to each of His redeemed: "I will not leave you and I will not forsake you" (Hebrews 13. 5.). "I am with you always, until the completion of the age" (Matt. 28. 20).
If someone around us is suffering from loneliness, show our affection by our presence; recall him from the Scriptures that God, because He loves us, "will regard the prayer of the destitute" (Ps. 102. 17). Invoke it with the one who hears, listens, and responds knows, one who promises: "Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me" (Psalm 50. 15.).
