"Amount in one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land; and after sitting from the boat, he taught the people. "Luke 5. 3

The first meeting between Peter and Jesus is the initiative of Andrew, brother of Peter.

She briefly told: a look and a word of Jesus that seem to cause no reaction in Simon.

This remains probably a little taken aback, because in the Jewish community, change its name, is proposing another meaning to his life.

But Peter returns to work, since we find him fishing. Yet Peter was to become one that would open the Church to the Jews and to the nations.

Jesus knows his impulsive temperament and decided; it will be very useful to lead the nascent Church in its infancy.

But that disciple should learn from the master before becoming a committed apostle.

The second meeting is as full of simplicity as the first.

It is in Jesus' initiative is Pierre washing his fishing nets.

He asks a service: a little away from the shore in one of his boats to speak to the crowd.

You can imagine the scene: Jesus teaches and Peter is at his side, he listens. When he finished speaking, Jesus asks him to go down the nets further.

Pierre had taken nothing of the night, but it nevertheless agrees to release them.

He, the professional fishing, calls Jesus "Master" by responding to his request, showing his respect for this man.

What a surprise ! The nets are full to bursting!

In one day, Peter hears a striking message and witnessing an astonishing miracle.

He immediately recognizes the Divine greatness of Jesus and confesses his condition: "Get away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man" (Luke 5 8).

Jesus' response: "Fear not; henceforth thou shalt catch men "(v. 10) is a word of forgiveness and a mission order.

This episode shows us how Jesus meets a person and individualizes its appeal, adapting to the circumstances of each one.

We also learn that all the Lord's command contains a promise!
