In arid regions like the Middle East, no possible survival for herds pit nearby! This is why the patriarchs were constantly digging and maintaining wells for their own use and that of their numerous livestock.
These wells can talk about the truths contained in the Bible truths essential for proper development of our Christian life. Certainly, the believer is watered daily to the river of grace through a life of communion with God and communication with him especially through prayer; but it also makes an effort to appropriate the thoughts of God contained in the Bible, salvation by faith, new birth, Christian freedom, the fact that believers are the body of Christ, etc.
No believer can dispense with this piece of individual work that is finding itself that "his parents in the faith" had to discover for themselves. He accomplished under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, by reading the Bible with the sole desire to find how to live more to the glory of God.
Some of these wells they have been polluted by human thoughts ? Going back to the Bible to detect and remove the earlier this is pernicious. Others were they stuck in the sand by the contribution of our habits and our traditions? Going back to the Bible to find pure water. Others have they been blocked by the enemy, as Abraham's wells had been by the Philistines? Going back to the Bible for regroove completely. This was done Luther and the reformers when they found the well of salvation by faith that the devil had almost blocked the Middle Ages.
Certainly not despise the comments, but make sure regroove in the Bible, all listed well. We receive so God himself, the real practical significance of the divine teachings. Maintain and dig wells to quench thirsts of today and tomorrow !
