Return to the message of the cross !

Luke 13: 2 and 3 - He answered them : "Do you think that these Galileans were greater sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way ? No, I'm telling you. But if you do not repent, you will all also perish”.

On January 7, 2015, France was shaken and deeply moved by an attack that claimed twelve victims. The punitive commando of the Islamic fundamentalist movement aimed at writing the newspaper "Charlie Hebdo" in repression of its satirical humor towards the prophet Muhammad.

Back then, we went against the grain when it came to why we didn't want to define ourselves as, "I'm Charlie." The comments that followed that thought led us to believe that our readers thought we were saying it was a judgment from God. We never meant to say that, moreover we wrote : "We are not saying that there is a cause and effect". It was not for us to "judge" this sort of thing, but we wanted to draw attention to the fact that without repentance, every man will have to account before God for his actions and that this is terrible because we don't know the day or the hour.

It seems that there is an obvious problem in Christendom with talking about the judgment of God and this is probably because we are under grace. Has the Eternal God that the Old Testament tells us about changed ? No, God is immutable and He never changes. Does the wrath of God no longer exist ? No, but she found "her appeasement" in the terrible sacrifice of Jesus. The good news that God gives us is for those who believe in Him and repent, as Jesus taught us.

“Jesus delivers us from the wrath to come” tells us 1 Thessalonians 1:10. John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter, Paul... all fervently preached repentance, it was the very essence of their message. All revivalists have come back to this simple yet powerful message of repentance. To speak of repentance, we must speak openly about sin and the remedy that God offers. Moreover, we can only speak about it effectively when we ourselves have become aware of the immensity of God's forgiveness towards us and this is our experience.

My beloved ones, Ezekiel 37 strongly encourages to return to the message of the cross and in this message there is the judgment of God but also the possibility of forgiveness that God gives. If we want to see real conversions, this is the only way. We will probably have fewer supporters and the world will hate us, however, I invite you to analyze the tenor of Peter's message at Pentecost and perhaps we will understand why there were 3,000 conversions.

Good reflection.
