The wedding feast

The kingdom of heaven is like a king who made a wedding for his son. Matthew 22.2

To explain the call for his free salvation, Jesus tells the story of a king who invites his people to his son's wedding feast (Suggested reading). Among the guests, we discover refusal, indifference, hostility accompanied by rebellion, ignorance of the king's demands. For different reasons, and despite a large number of people called, very few go to the party...

Even today, God's invitation is extended to men through the gospel of Jesus Christ. But surprisingly, as in the parable, very few answer it... Oh, one does not need to commit a great number of sins to deny oneself from God : one has only to persevere in the refusal of the salvation offered by his Son ! Many stay out, not because they feel too sinful, but because they place little value on Christ's invitation to their salvation. Some are fiercely opposed to God ; they do not want especially that Jesus interferes in their conscience ! And finally, others believe themselves to be sufficiently deserving or religious to appear harmlessly before God. But, clothed in their own righteousness rather than in the garments of salvation in Christ (Isaiah 61.10), they will be turned away... Fortunately, if you believe in Jesus, a place at the feast is reserved for you (John 14.1-2) !
