Seek to see Jesus

He (Zacchaeus) ran ahead and got on a sycamore tree to see Jesus, because he had to go through there. Luke 19.4

When the tour de France cyclist approached Saint-Étienne, we took up positions on the course. Arrived early, we were able to stand on a place high enough for our young children to see the race despite the crowds. You had to anticipate the event so as not to miss anything from the show. Indeed, the public would soon deprive latecomers of a clear view of the runners. But those who had taken the initiative to see them fully were not disappointed...

In Jericho, Luke tells us that Zacchaeus was trying to find out who Jesus of Nazareth was (Luke 19.2-10). Knowing his fame, he was eager to seize an opportunity to approach him. But being small, he knew the crowd would hide his view. So he made arrangements to see it fully : he ran forward on his way and climbed a tree ! He was not disappointed as Jesus, surrounded by the crowd, stopped at his level, looked up and spoke to him. Then he ate at home... What a privilege, what a joy ! He was rewarded for his determination.

When a man really seeks God, he finds him. Seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. Indeed, everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds and we open to him who knocks, says Jesus (Matthew 7: 7-8).
