"I will walk with you and give you rest." Exodus 33.14
In Hebrew, the word peace is called "shalom".
And unless it comes from God, peace will always remain a utopia, a philosophical dream, an enticing prey that never gets caught.
Marriages break up because we seek an imperfect spouse to give us the desired perfect peace, and we discover that he or she can not.
Only the presence of God can bring you peace.
At a party, a woman does her best to look happy. Noticing the huge diamond flickering on her finger, a guest exclaims :"Wow, what a beautiful stone !" The lady replies : "Thank you, this is Callahan's diamond." The curious resumes : "I wish so much to have one !" The woman retorts : "Oh, you should not." The other asks, "Why ?" The answer fuse : "It contains the curse of Callahan". The guest is surprised : "Oh, who is this Callahan ?" The woman sighs and says : "My husband !"
Peace is perfect only if the donor is perfect, and God is the only one qualified.
Peace is not the absence of problems but the presence of God in the midst of yours.
Moreover, no one ever finds peace by looking for it. Peace is not found, it finds you when you entrust your life to the one who said : "I will walk with you myself and I will give you rest."
Only the presence of God can bring you peace. The assurance of his love, his help, and his presence give you stress.
An action for today
Do you miss peace today ? Trust your life with Christ, and you will know "the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding." Philippians 4.7
