Sow without cease

"Melchizedek, king of Salem, had bread and wine brought : he was a priest of the Most High God, and he blessed Abram and said : Blessed be Abram by the Most High God, Master of heaven and earth, Blessed be the Most High God who delivered your enemies into your hands, and Abram gave him the tithe of all." Genesis 14.18-20

Which farmer who planted seeds for a year would expect to harvest for the next five, ten, or fifteen years from that seed ? It would be a hungry farmer, would not it ? Why do people think they can plant seeds from time to time, and harvest continuously ?

"Sow good things continually, and you will continually reap a harvest of blessings."

A permanent harvest requires permanent seed. The first seed that Abraham sowed was his obedience, when he decided to leave everything to follow God by faith. Then, in Genesis 14, he also sowed a financial seed when he gave Melchizedek the tithing of all he had.

In Genesis 15, we see what he has harvested. God told him that He would be his "very great reward". The literal meaning of this sentence is : "Your riches will grow continuously and quickly."

When you read the whole life of Abraham, you notice that he has permanently sowed for God, and that God has continually blessed him.

An action for today

You can not expect to live the rest of your life with what you have sown just once. Sow good things continually, and you will continually reap a harvest of blessings.
