"Stop and know that I am God." Psalm 46.11
Does God speak to you in the shower ? This is certainly because it is one of the few places where you are available to hear it.
God is worthy that I stop to contemplate him.
Have you noticed how difficult it is to stop to remain quiet in silence before God ? From your rhythm of life to your phone, everything is done around you so that you are in perpetual agitation.
We can be absorbed by our activities, the solicitations, the needs, our mission and forget that God is there, that he is our source, that it is his favor on our lives that allows us to go forward.
Even in prayer, one tends to be agitated by talking a lot instead of contemplating it. Yet God is worthy that I stop to contemplate it ....
Standing quiet before God is an act of worship. One way to honor him, like a soldier who stands at attention (he becomes motionless) in front of a king or general who passes him.
This verse has also been translated as : "Stand still, remain silent, acknowledge that I am God."
When we contemplate God, we discover or rediscover who He is. We can then have his perspective and have access to his resources.
You do not need to look far to contemplate God, he came to live in you when you were born again. God lives all the time in you by his Spirit, you do not have to wait for him to come, he is there.
When you stop running, searching, forcing, shaking and focusing on God in you, on his person, you then connect with his presence, your perspective changes and you receive his peace, his hope, his love.
Perhaps you would like to have a better computer or phone, or are you looking for fast meals to prepare, thinking that the quicker you are, the more time you will have to rest ? But the solution to living in God's rest is to stop every day, several times a day, and to contemplate it so that it communicates its peace to you.
Enter his rest ! By stopping to contemplate God, in spirit, you open the door of his manifest presence, you enter his peace.
A prayer for today
"Lord, you live in me, I stop and I fix my eyes on you, I enter your rest, let your face shine on me, let me see my situation with your perspective. listen to your sweet murmur in my spirit, here I am, I stand in front of you, reveal yourself to me."
Keep quiet in front of God for 10 minutes and write down what you have received in your mind during this break.
