Take examples from Zelophehad five daughters (3)
“You don't own because you don't ask. When you ask you do not receive because you ask badly in order to satisfy your passions.” James 4. 2-3
The Word of God is full of promises. Some are addressed to us individually, others as part of the family of God. Zelophehad five daughters no doubt remembered the blessings that Israel had proclaimed concerning His children, and in particular Joseph's two sons. After studying their history, they did not hesitate to claim what they considered to be theirs. Before claiming God's promises in your life, find out which ones apply to you. For example God said : “My Spirit, which rests on you, and My words, which I have put in your mouth, will not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your children, nor from the mouth of the children. of your children, says the Lord, from now on and forevermore” (Isaiah 59. 21). Did you know, do you believe it ? Have you asked God to put His promise into practice in the lives of your children and grandchildren ? Knowing the promise is not enough, it is still necessary to claim it ! That's what the five young women did. And they got what they asked for. When Jacques writes : “You ask and do not receive because you ask badly,” he emphasizes the motive behind each of our requests. Their request was beyond their own interest. The blessings they demanded would flow to future generations. Other women in Israel would benefit from their action. Their request thus accorded with the divine principle, enunciated by God to Abraham : "In you shall be blessed all the families of the earth" (Genesis 12.3). Let us ask ourselves the question : “Are our prayers and our struggles sources of blessings for others ?" Mark Batterson wrote : “When God blesses you financially, don't even think about increasing your lifestyle. Consider increasing the level of your generosity instead !”
