The alliances and the promises of God

"He is the Lord our God, and his judgments are in all the earth, and he remembers for ever his covenant, his word for a thousand generations, his covenant with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac." Psalms 105: 7-9

God is a God of covenants and promises. We can not truly understand our relationship with him unless we grasp this truth. It is this awareness that filled the heart of the psalmist with thanksgiving and praise.

God is a God of covenants and promises. He never lies and you can count on him

If he could praise God, thank him and sing, it was because he remembered all that God had done. Therefore he encourages the people to praise the Lord, to worship him, to sing for him, to glory in his holy name.

When we think of God, let us remember that he is "the Lord our God" and that "his judgments are exercised over all the earth." Let's think about our relationship with him. "He always remembers his covenant." Because he is a God of covenants, he will fulfill what he has promised. But in order for his promises to be fulfilled, we must respect our share of the contract and put his commandments into practice. And his promises and covenants are never obsolete.

Today, spend time reminding yourself of his promises. Proclaim them. Remember all that he has done for you and promised to do again. You can advance in armed life and filled with hope and confidence. God is a God of covenants and promises. He never lies and you can count on him. He is waiting to see if you are ready to believe him and to support you concretely on his promises and alliances. If you do, you will enjoy all the blessings of His Word and you will fulfill His promises to you.

A prayer for today

Father, thank you because your promises are true. Help me to obey your Word. I want to invest my time, talents and resources in your kingdom. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
