The inexhaustible grace

"The slave said : Master, what you have commanded is done, and there is still room. Then the master said to the slave : Go in the paths and along the hedges, and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled." Luke 14:23

Grace is the undeserved favor that God, in his love, grants to all sinners who repent : it brings them salvation (Titus 2:11) and declares them totally righteous, free, without making any difference between men.

In the parable of the "great dinner of grace," the Lord tells the story of a man who gives a great meal and invites many people. Like God, God wants us to have fellowship with Him to make us share in all that is His joy. This man, at the time of the meal, sends his servant to warn the guests that everything is ready. These, one after the other, invoke excuses of little value for not accepting the invitation of grace.

On his return from his mission, the servant reports to his master the refusals he has endured. "In anger, the master of the house says to his slave : Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the city, and bring here the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame." Many of those wounded in life respond to the invitation, but there is still room in the master's house. The latter gives the order to his servant to go in the paths and along the hedges and to force the people to enter in order to fill his house.

In truth, "the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men" (Titus 2: 11), to the rich as well as to the poor, the good and the crippled, the blind and the lame. And if there are more miserable than the latter, they will be welcome !

No one is repulsed, each one is invited to hasten to take a place at the divine banquet of grace. The only limit to the grace of God is the unbelief or ill will of man.

In his mercy, God offers to the lost man the immense privilege of finding peace and joy at the heavenly banquet. Today, there are still empty places. The banquet hall is open to all unconditionally. God wants his house to be filled. May his will be a "feast" !
