The infinite understanding of God
Searching the Scriptures
When I say : My foot is shaking! Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is my support. When thoughts stir in crowds within me, your consolations rejoice my soul. Psalm 94.18-19
One of the things that I have always liked about the image of God that the Bible sends us is its infinite understanding. He knows our weaknesses. He knows our weaknesses and never asks us for anything that is beyond our capabilities.
All he asks is that we give what we have and he provides for what is lacking in his grace. The psalmist here says "my foot is shaking". He was in a position where he didn't control much. He could not save himself, but he said with such gratitude "Your goodness, O Lord, supports me." This is so often true.
When we come to a time when our feet are tottering, then in his great love and grace, God reaches out, sustains us and saves us. Then the psalmist says that when "anguish is great within me, his consolations rejoice my soul." Again, we can experience this in real life.
In times of anguish, fear, and trial, God consoles us in us, and despite the troubles we find ourselves in, his consolation gladdens our souls. In fact, it often happens that the stronger the opposition, the more serious the problem, the more we experience the joy that comes to us from God's consolation.
Listen to the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to tell us. If the storm is raging around you, ask God to appease your soul.
Praying is simple. Let's talk to God as we would our closest friend. God loves us and He can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, help me to declare like the psalmist : When my foot stumbles, Your loving kindness, O Lord, supports me. When thoughts are crowded within me, Your consolations rejoice my soul. You are everything to me and I choose to move forward by faith and not by sight."
Praise God
To praise God is to show Him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a break to thank him on this.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the Lord
Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
“Lord, I am so grateful for your grace and patience with me. So many times when I was weak you grabbed my hand and straightened me up. Thank you Lord for your consolations, your support ! Thank you for helping me endure trials, by your grace ! Thine are the reign, the power and the glory forever. So be it !"
