"Draw near to God and he will come near you, cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, men shared !" James 4.8
I would like you to notice one thing about the verse above : we are told to approach God, and then only to stop sinning.
The reason Jesus came is precisely the fact that we can not become good enough without him. We need Jesus in our life.
So many people do the opposite. They think that they will never come to God, have a relationship with him, and become Christians as long as they have problems in their lives. So they try to settle them first and put their lives in order to become good enough to have a relationship with God. But this reasoning is wrong.
The reason Jesus came is precisely the fact that we can not become good enough without him. We need Jesus in our life.
His death, his sinking blood, paid for our mistakes - paid for the debt we had. There is no way to be cleansed of our sins apart from coming to God in the name of Jesus.
God is hoping and waiting for you to approach him today. Do not stay away, believing in the lie that you must first be cleansed from sin. On the contrary, go to God, already purified by the sacrifice that Jesus made for you.
A prayer for today
Lord, I refuse to believe the lie that I must be without sin before I can come to you. To come to you by the blood of your Son cleanses me from my sins. I refuse to live in shame and I know that I can come near you now, and receive your love and forgiveness.
