The sound of the sea

There will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars. And on earth the nations will be in anguish, terrified by the sound of the sea and the waves. Luke 21:25

"The only sound that never stops, even in the dead of night, is the sound of the sea. It is the sound of life on the Orkney Islands. Like this author, I grew up and currently live 100 meters from the sea. The sound of the sea is like a song to me. His music, which is not always smooth, tells me if the tide is high or low and if the sea is calm or rough. But on the day when the sound of the sea and the waves of which Jesus speaks will occur, my knowledge of the wind and the sea will not be enough to deliver me from the anguish experienced by the nations. Like everyone else, I must take care that my heart does not become indifferent to the words and the presence of Jesus Christ.

Jesus' words are more reliable than the best weather report there is. We do not know exactly when the events foretold by Jesus will occur. But the word of Jesus is trustworthy for eternity : "Heaven and earth will pass away," he said, "but my words will not pass away. "(Luke 21.33)

So it is today that wisdom invites us to trust in Jesus and his words.
