"Fortify him and strengthen him" Deuteronomy 3.28

 

An encouragement can work miracles. In the film Envers and Against All, Professor Jaime Escalante has two students named Johnny in his class. One is flourishing and an excellent pupil, the other is unstable and constantly gets into trouble.
When you look for qualities in a person and express them, you give him a new reason to live.

At the first parent / teacher meeting, a mother approached Jaime and asked : "How's it going with my son, Johnny ?" Jaime mistakenly assumes she is the mum of the good student, and replies : "You can not know how much I appreciate it, I am so happy to have it in my class."

The next day, the troubled Johnny came to see his teacher and said : "Mother told me your words last night, none of my teachers ever wanted me in her class." Result ? He went to work that day and every day after. A few weeks later, he became one of Jaime's best pupils, and one of his best friends.

Through a word of involuntary encouragement, her life has totally changed. It is always effective. When you look for qualities in a person and express them, you give him a new reason to live. In other words, you motivate it to become even better. The last thing God asked of Moses was to encourage and strengthen Joshua, "for he shall pass before this people, and make him inherit the land which thou shalt see." Deuteronomy 3.28

An action for today

What is great in an encouragement is that you do not need to be rich, attractive, famous, or brilliant to give it, and it is always appreciated. So today, encourage someone.
