To be happy, the goal of my life ?

To be happy, the goal of my life ?

Lord, master of the universe, happy is the man who trusts in you! Psalm 84.13

On Google, I type : "Should we..." The search engine continues and suggests :

… Satisfy all his desires in order to be happy ?

… Do everything to be happy ?

... refrain from thinking in order to be happy ?

For my robot, someone who writes "Should we" obviously can't look for anything other than a secret to happiness ! It was not my case...

If we so frantically seek to be happy, wouldn't we be ? And what about the three suggested “secrets” ?

- Satisfy all his desires ? Put more and more into the bottomless pit of our heart ? Isn't this egocentric mentality the cause of our discomfort and not its solution ?

- Do everything to be happy ? Stop at nothing, even in the face of the misfortune that we create around us, to achieve our ends ? And we would be happy ?

- No longer thinking in order to be happy ? Overwhelmed by worry, disease, failure, fear of death, trying to distract us or drown our sorrows in alcohol ?

The Bible does not make happiness a goal, but the result of a life that unfolds in trust and intimacy with God. Like David in Psalm 51, then we will be happy, freed from the heavy burden of sin that plagued our best moments. And we can rejoice at the prospect of endless eternity with our Savior ! That's my case !
