True assurance !

I have the assurance that neither death nor life, neither angels nor rulers, neither the present nor the future, nor the powers, nor the height, nor the depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God manifested in Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Modern man has never been so confident as in the 21st century. Insured for life, insured social, insured old age, insured against fire, domestic accidents or theft... We sometimes have so many contracts that we can be covered several times for the same thing.

Curiously, however, the only assurance that many contemporaries lack is that concerning eternity. How many people, so organized and far-sighted, leave overnight without having taken the time to ask themselves the question of their eternal destiny ?

It's not just among atheists. Many who say they believe in a God or something do not seek to know more. However, since life does not belong to anyone, it can stop at any time.

At the same time, it seems almost incongruous or dangerous, in an era of "each his own", to have certainties.

"Since life does not belong to anyone, it can stop at any time..."

But then, materialism can in no way meet our spiritual need, unchanged for millennia. It is no wonder that in the prevailing relativism and skepticism, so many men and women suffer from depression, addictions, and sometimes opt for suicide.

Do they not lack the true assurance, that which God gives to the one who decides to take hold of his outstretched hand ?

Jesus Christ gave his life for us. He offered us the assurance of his salvation, the certainty that in his hand we will always be held, until the moment we pass into eternity.

So, when this reality dawns in us, we can, with Paul, proclaim this glorious declaration of faith : "I have the assurance that neither death nor life, neither angels nor rulers, neither the present nor the the future, neither the powers, nor the height, nor the depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God manifested in Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39).

A decision for today

Lord Jesus, I no longer want to live in uncertainty. Come reveal your love to my heart. I ask your forgiveness for my sin, my indifference. Place in me this wonderful assurance of your salvation.
