Walk in Love

"Be imitators of God ... and walk in love as Christ loved us." Ephesians 5.1

Peter was walking at night on the pavement of a poorly lit street. From a distance he noticed a little light that was coming closer. It was an individual who was holding a flashlight ... and a white cane.

"Why do you have a lamp ?" Asked Peter to this blind. He smiled :

- I have a light so others can see me. I do not see them any more, but I do my best not to stumble the others.

Lord, give me to be a subject of encouragement for those around me.

This anecdote illustrates what should be the conduct of a Christian : a walk in love. Apply to not dropping his brother. Beware of any malevolence, slander, lie about it. Abstain even from what we would be pleased not to hurt his conscience.

This attitude goes hand in hand with a walk in the light of the revelation of God (1 John 1: 7). It allows us to see clearly what we are and what we are doing. Confessing to God our weaknesses and our faults, we can stay in touch with him and cultivate a relationship of simplicity and transparency with our brothers.

To walk in love is to want the spiritual good of our brothers, to listen to them, to devote time to them, to pray for them, to share with them joys and sufferings. In realizing this, we enter into the thought of the Lord Jesus and remain in His fellowship.

A prayer for today

Lord, give me to be a subject of encouragement for those around me. Help me to be like a signpost that shows them your direction so they can get to know you better. Amen !
