Weighed, light !

2 Timothy 3.2 - For men will be... boastful

The dictionary gives the following definition of swagger : "Who brags about being what he is not or who exaggerates what he really is." The Greek term adds to that of boastful the notion of being empty, vain, without consistency. A balloon gives a beautiful image : inflated but full of wind.

Multimedia technology has not only invaded our society, it has invaded our lives. It is enough to be familiar with social networks to realize the extent of this phenomenon. Also look at the splendor of fashion, cosmetics, aesthetics, the ceremonial ranplanplan, the great rose water speeches...

Multimedia technology has even invaded our communities. I am not speaking here of the servants of God who use modern means of communication to support their messages, very often these have substance and give glory to God. I am talking about a Christianity made of appearances, of false pretenses where the cult of the image and the virtual is the priority. How many wear masks, make a life for themselves with "Me-I", how many who are ready for all hypocrisies to save appearances ?

My beloved, if we had the experience of King Belshazzar, may the Lord "weigh" our life, would His words be : "Weighed : You were weighed in the scales, and you were found light" (Daniel 5.27). It requires a deep reflection on the real capacity of our life. Paul already said, speaking of certain Christians : "Having the appearance of godliness, but denying that which makes it strong" (2 Timothy 3:5). He will say again : "For the kingdom of God is not in words, but in power" (1 Corinthians 4:20). Brethren, we can "entertain the gallery" with our words but what is important is the realm of God's power that emanates from our life !

If I had a prayer to say now, it would be : "Lord, may all that is empty and vain be shattered in my life, be annihilated within your Church, all that is false and virtual in the people of God be destroyed so that the Truth of your Word may triumph and your children may be children of light in this blinded generation.
