What about you ?

Psalms 73.3 - For I envied fools, seeing the happiness of the wicked.

We live in a world that lives in a frantic race for consumption : clothing, make-up, furniture and household appliances of all kinds, vacations on the right, vacations on the left, beautiful car, well in short, every day presents us with its share of entertainment and entertainment articles.

The race to buy thus becomes the norm for many and unfortunately many Christians are not exempt from it. But what is really normal ?

Despite what the media and the world would have us believe, not everyone can go on vacation, not everyone can afford the luxury of having a walk-in closet full of dresses, blouses, pants, suits, shoes. matching handbags... not everyone rides in a great car ! And here too, Christians are not exempt. Indeed, even Christians must learn to count.

This is how we can sometimes envy the happiness of the wicked ; ask ourselves why, we Christians, we are deprived of vacations while those who are not children of God, leave for dream destinations where they can take rest and change their minds. We follow, believe and preach the God of plenty, the God who provides, so what : what's going on ?

First of all, even if God likes to give gifts to his children and thus to amaze them, the fact remains that sometimes, like Paul, we can live in times of famine, of lack. ! The Lord never told us that each passing day would be easy and that we would have everything, and now. On the other hand, he promises us to be there at all times and that at all times, we can lean on him.

The second thing is that we often confuse needs and wants. Just because we can't afford the latest bomber jacket doesn't mean we're running out, we just might not need it (two more jackets are in the closet !).

After that, "all that glitters is not gold" is a saying you probably know well. Yet we are often fooled ! How many take out loans galore so they can afford a dream vacation like the coworker, the latest fashionable dress, the latest stereo ? How many will also work tirelessly, the week with an employer and the weekends "on their own" to be able to offer Madame the luxury of showing her friends her latest trendy outfit, her latest beautiful jewel ?

How many lives still revolve around having it ? Even if there is nothing wrong with wanting to be able to go on vacation, to dress ourselves... we can also approach God to ask him for these graces, it is very often important and in particular for us women, to review our priorities and our needs because it is a real trap to enter into dissatisfaction and depreciation of ourselves because not like the others. The Word of God tells us that the happiness of a human being does not depend on his possessions, even in abundance (Luke 12:15).

My friends, let's stop believing otherwise ! Certainly, we need money to live, clothes to dress us, to be able to take rest and our Lord knows it, He tells us besides not to worry about all these things. Let’s be thankful for all we have. Let's look at the glass half full instead of seeing the glass half empty. Let us give thanks on this day to our Lord for what He has chosen for us ! We are the work of His hands to manifest His glory. We are loved by God. Is there anything more valuable ?

With all my love.
