When your faith is put to the test

"Your daughter is dead, no longer disturbs the Master" Mark 5.35-36

Jesus had made his way among the crowd to succor a little girl who was twelve years old. Next to him stood Jairus, the father of the little girl. Then came a messenger and the sentence fell : "Your daughter is dead, no longer disturbing the Master" Mark 5 : 35-36. What a tragedy ! Yet Jairus was full of hope after finding Jesus. At these words his courage had to collapse and his eyes shining with faith darkened with grief.

If you lose confidence in Him, Jesus does not lose confidence in you. He also had to ask himself a multitude of questions : "Why did not God answer my supplications ? Why did he allow me to lose my little girl when I served him all my life ? What is the use of remaining faithful to him? Why put my trust in him if it is to be abandoned when I expressed my dismay ? Why does the master disappoint me ? I throw myself at his feet, full of hope and it's too late ! Yes, why bother Teacher, he does not have time for me when he takes it for so many others !"

If you are about to give up, realize that the Lord does not forsake you. If you lose confidence in Him, Jesus does not lose confidence in you. He does not listen to the messengers of misfortune. His way of seeing is different from yours. Where you see sin, see it forgiveness, where you see sickness, Jesus sees healing ; Where you see captives of depression and anguish, Jesus sees deliverance and peace ; Where you see failure, Jesus sees victory ; Finally, where you see despair, Jesus sees hope.

The Lord encouraged this father of the family not to fear but to believe only. Advance with the Lord. If God is with you, who will be against you ? No messenger of woe and no weapon forged against you can prosper. Just trust your Lord.

A prayer for today

Lord, whatever the disastrous situation, I place all my faith in you, amen.
