In the beginning, God created man in his image. Her desire is to reveal herself to her creature and communicate with her. But Adam disobeys and loses his dignity as the head of creation; The Son of God then undertakes to re-establish it in his own person, so that the plan of God may be realized. He becomes a man and presents himself as "Son of Man", the title he uses more than 80 times in the Gospels to designate himself.
This title of Son of Man evokes the perfection of Jesus as man, but also his sufferings which emphasize the perfection of his obedience in the most trying circumstances. He also appoints him who shall receive the honor which God bestows on him who has perfectly glorified him.
Indeed, as the Son of man, Jesus was humbled (Psalm 8), but also exalted at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven (Psalm 80). As Son of Man, he had no place to rest (Luke 9: 58), but he will advance to the Ancient of Days (God) to receive from his hands the kingdom (Dan. 13). It is to the Son of man that judgment is given (John 5:27); It is the Son of man who is prophet, priest and king, heir of everything, Lord over all, head of the body, spouse of the Church.
As Son of man, he has power over earth to forgive sins (Matt. 9: 6), and is Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28). However, in this same quality of Son of Man, it was three days and three nights in the bosom of the earth (Matthew 12:40).
As the Son of man, he was the untiring sower that poured out his seed (Matt 13:37) ; As such, he will reap his harvest in the heavenly granaries.
As Son of man, he was crucified (John 3:13, 14), risen and raised to heaven. It is also as Son of man that he will benefit from the help of angels in the exercise of his royal power on earth (John 1: 51).
