You are born to succeed

"And he took Joseph, and put him in prison. The LORD was with Joseph. And the LORD gave success to what he did." Genesis 39.20 / 23

While she was a young girl of twenty-two, this young American, daughter of missionary doctors in India, Ida Scudder lived a drama that determined what her life would be.

Three young Indian women were about to give birth, the families came to ask Ida to serve as a midwife. These families did not appeal to the dad of Ida, a missionary doctor, because of the taboos of the time; In fact, a man (even a doctor) could not assist a woman who was giving birth. Ida, who had no training, refused to help them. Unfortunately, during the night, these three young women died in childbirth. Ida was terribly affected. This tragedy upset her to the point of deciding to undertake medical studies. After her training, she returned to India where she worked fifty years to care for Indian women. She created a hospital, a nursing school, an institute of medicine, and died in 1960 at the age of eighty-nine. The drama of these three young Indian women determined what the life of Ida would be and prepared for the success of her life.

There are many examples in the Bible of those men and women who experienced that the dramas they were living prepared them for extraordinary success.

When we consider the success of Patriarch Joseph, Jacob's son, we see that this success began with a succession of tragedies: Sold by his brothers, a slave to Potiphar, thrown into prison ... All these dramas could have predicted a whole life spoiled . But this was not the case, for this dramatic journey prepared him to give meaning to his life, to become the "savior" of his family.

We could also consider the tragedy that struck the captive people of Israel in Egypt. Now, in the midst of this dramatic situation, Moses will be born at the moment when all the babies were to be put to death. Moses will be saved from death, but he will later have to flee to the desert. All these paths of grief prepared the most brilliant of the deliverances of a whole people.

There are many examples in the Bible of those men and women who experienced that the dramas they were living prepared them for extraordinary success.

When David had to confront the bear and the lion to protect his sheep, these dramatic situations prepared him to fight the giant Goliath.

Advice for this day

As you go through a dramatic situation, remember these examples, and believe that God can turn all your present failures into a flight path for future successes.
