You can take new start

"He will not break the wrinkled reed, and it will not quench the smoking smoke." Matthew 12.20

Let us rejoice, God prefers to repair what is damaged rather than throw it away. With him, an accident of life is not the end of history.

It is often called the God of "second chance" but it is rather reducing, right ? If we had only two chances, we would all be completely lost. But he is the God of "seventy times seven times" Matthew 18:22 ! In Greek, the number seven represents the infinite. He is therefore the God of infinite grace. Simply acknowledge your failures with humility, express your desire for a fresh start, and it will give you the ability.

The reed of which the verse of today speaks is the rudimentary flute of a shepherd. The instrument is in a pitiful condition. The luminous smoke no longer lights up and becomes useless. The reed and the wick represent the excluded, spoiled by life and rejected by others. But Jesus undertakes to repair and heal, not to destroy those who have experienced failure. He wants to give us a fresh start, whatever our failures may be.

We are all faced with failure ! We are descendants of Adam. We tend to spoil everything. Abraham lied and put Sarah in danger. Jacob was a cheater and a crook. Moses wanted to do as he pleased and ended up as a fugitive. David was an adulterer, a murderer, and a conspirator. Peter turned his back on Christ. Yet, God called upon each one of them to fulfill his will.

An Encouragement for Today

He will also appeal to you because "Where sin has grown, grace has superabundant." (Rom. 5:20). Then you can make a fresh start.
