Your place in the Kingdom of God

"For all the congregation are holy, and the Lord is in their midst : why dost thou rise above the congregation of the Lord, when Moses heard it ? He fell on his face ... you and all your company gathered against the Lord !" Numbers 16: 3-11

Kore and other "renowned people" decided that they no longer wanted to serve Moses. They murmured and began to complain. Ignoring the word of God and the history of their people, they rejected the leaders whom God had chosen, and forgot all that he had revealed to them.

In our times, some Christians forget that the kingdom belongs to God ... In their complaints against Moses and Aaron, they had not understood the reality of things: Moses, like Aaron, were only men; The only peculiarity that distinguished them was that they had been chosen by God. Moses knew that, in the end, this rebellion was not directed against him, but against God himself. It was a very serious sin which led to the death of Korah.

Koré thought that the kingdom of God was a democracy, and that with his friends they could elect their leaders, vote on their direction and policy. They forgot that God is God, that he is sovereign over his kingdom and his people, and that his Word was the basis of all things in their lives.

In our day, some Christians forget that the kingdom belongs to God, and that he wants us to focus on his call in our lives. So they criticize, they complain and want to follow their own path. They forget that all of us are simply serving God. That he is our King and the absolute Lord of his kingdom.

What is your role in the kingdom of God ? Spend your life serving him and accomplishing the task he has given you. Take care of your role in the Body of Christ. Seek to be faithful, that one day he may say to you, "This is good, good and faithful servant."

A prayer for today

Father, thank you for your special call on my life. Help me to serve and please you with the time, talents and resources you have given me. I give you my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
