• Day 7 : May your names be sanctified in my life (1)

The following is what Jesus said : "Hallowed be thy name."

What does he mean with this concretely ? In order to better understand it, we must know that God reveals Himself by several names in the Bible. In each name there is hidden a certain aspect of his character as well as the salvation he has prepared for us.

By sanctifying his different names, we not only remember the different aspects of his character, but we can also appropriate the corresponding facet of his salvation for our lives. As the Bible always explains itself, we can of course find other Biblical verses related to the specific names of God that are available, to support these truths that we can pray and proclaim, while personalizing them.

These are the eight names with which God reveals Himself in the Old Testament. It is interesting to note that these are eight names. Eight is the number of eternity. There are seven colors in the rainbow, seven basic elements, seven basic sounds (do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si), etc.

But there are eight names of the Lord in the Old Testament. Each name is found in the New Testament when an author speaks of Jesus. These are the names, first with the verse in the Old Testament where it can be found, and then with some verses from the New Testament, where this facet of the character of God is found in speaking of Jesus. We can pray, "May your name be sanctified" by taking up all the names of God and personalizing them while appropriating and proclaiming the aspect of salvation that is there :

    Jahweh Zidkenu = The Lord is my righteousness (Jeremiah 33:16, 1 Cor 1:30, 2 Cor 5: 21, ...)

    Jahweh M'Kaddesh = The Lord is my sanctification (Lev 22:33, 1 Cor 1:30, Heb 10: 10 ....)

Jahweh Shalom = The Lord is my peace. (Jn 6:24) (John 14:27 ...)

Jahweh Shammah = The Lord is in me, present (Ezekiel 48:35, Hebrews 13: 5 ...)

Jahweh Rofeh = The Lord is my healing. (Literally: physician, Ex. 15: 26, 1 Peter 2:24 ...)

Jahweh Jireh = The Lord will provide for all my needs. (Gen. 22:14) (Phil 4:19 ...)

    Jahweh Nessi = The Lord is my Banner Ex. 17:15, Eph. 6: 12-18, Ps 27: 1 ...)

    Jahweh Rohi = The Lord is my Shepherd (Psalm 23: 1, 1 Peter 5: 4 ...)

ALL these names are united in one name, that of JESUS. In Hebrew, the letters also represent numbers and the Hebrew name of Jesus (Yeshua) is 888. It is our righteousness, our sanctification, our peace, our Emmanuel (God with us), our healing, our provision, our banner (Our Commander in Chief of the Army), our shepherd ... All the eight names of God are united in one Name, the Name above all the Names, the Name of Jesus !

In the days to come we will see what these names represent in our lives.

"Thank you Lord, who can find all the aspects of salvation by your blood in all the Names with which you have manifested. May your names be sanctified in my life Lord! In the name of Jesus, amen."
