The blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God continually cleanses me from all sin.

Let's take a closer look at this proclamation about the blood in 1 John 1: 7 : "But if we walk in the light, as he [Jesus] is himself in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and Jesus' blood his Son cleanses us from all sin."

We have already seen how these three elements interact and are interconnected in the word of God: walking in the light, communion with each other and the cleansing of blood. Many people claim purification and protection of the blood but do not fulfill the conditions that would entitle them to receive them. The purification by the blood of Jesus Christ is the consequence of something preceded by an 'if', it is a conditional enunciation, dependent on a prerequisite : if we walk in the light because it is in the light. So, two results result, not just one, but two. The purification of the blood is the second result, the first being that we are in communion with each other.

Logically, if we are not in communion with each other, it is proof that we do not walk in the light. If we do not walk in the light, it follows logically that we can not claim cleansing of Jesus' blood. So we come to this conclusion : if we are outside of fellowship, we are outside the light. If we are outside the light, the blood does not purify us anymore. The blood of Jesus purifies only in the light. This is one of the most important principles we have to understand.

Prayer of the day :

Thank you Lord for the blood of Jesus. I proclaim that I have the firm intention to walk in the light, as Jesus is in the light, and to fully enter into fellowship and purification of sin. The blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, continually cleanses me from all sin. Amen.
