"Let all the house of Israel know with certainty : God has made this Lord Jesus Christ, whom you crucified." Acts 2. 36

This verse concludes Peter's speech on the day of Pentecost. About one hundred and twenty disciples of Jesus are assembled at Jerusalem ; They were filled by the Holy Spirit who descended upon the earth. The many people present at the party are overwhelmed by what they see and what they hear.
What a change in Pierre's way of thinking ! Throughout his march with his Master, he refused the idea that he should be put to death. Henceforth it appears to us quite different. Pentecost is at the origin of this transformation, for Peter is now filled with the Holy Spirit.
Pierre could never experience a singular event without reacting. God uses his vivacity to explain what has just happened. It is the same man : before he reacted personally to the idea of the death of Jesus ; Now he is filled with the Holy Spirit and presents to his fellow-citizens the Crucified One, resurrected by God, exalted at the right hand of God, made Lord and Christ (Acts 2: 14-36).
His preaching deeply touches the conscience of his hearers. They ask Peter and the other apostles : "Brothers, what should we do ?" (Acts 2:37). He replied, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of his sins ; And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, for it is for you that is the promise to your children and to all who are far away as much as the Lord our God will call to him "(38:39) .
The strength of Peter's message, supported by the Spirit of God, is such that on this day about three thousand people are added to the number of believers (Acts 2:41).
A few days later, Peter continues to explain to his Jewish brothers the meaning of the cross which he himself refused shortly before (Acts 3: 12-26). Many believe, and the number of believers amounts to nearly five thousand men.
The change in Peter's view of events is linked to the power of the Spirit who opens his thoughts to spiritual realities. What is important is our individual attachment to the Lord. God will then transform us to make us fit for His service, as He did so well for Peter.
