The value of divine favor ! (1)

“You will find favor... in the sight of God and of men.” Proverbs 3.4

In order to accomplish the mission God has given you on this earth, you will need divine favor. How did Joseph manage to rise from his position as a simple prisoner of an Egyptian jail to that of steward of the entire prison ? “The Lord was with Joseph and bestowed His favor on him. He made him find favor in the eyes of the captain of the prison” (Genesis 39. 21-23). Why did King Ahasuerus (or Xerxes) choose Esther, a young Jewish slave, to appoint her queen instead of Vashti ? “She found favor and favor before him more than all virgins, and he put the crown of the kingdom on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti” (Esther 2:17). How did Samuel, from a simple temple worker, become the most powerful prophetic voice in the nation of Israel ? “Samuel continued to grow in the favor of the Lord as much as of men” (1 Samuel 2:26). What are the characteristics common to all these men and women who enjoyed divine favor ?

1- They were ready to give the best of themselves. They excelled at the task God had given them and, when the time was right, God granted them important promotions.

2- They agreed to give first place to others. David served Saul with exemplary loyalty, although the king was a ruthless despot. Ruth worked hard to support Naomie, her widowed stepmother.

3- They accepted the advice of others and the divine direction. God answered Ruth's request by giving her a great counselor (Naomi), a great patron (Boaz), and making sure she would go to the right field (Ruth 2.2-3). Divine favor will allow you to meet good people and find yourself in the right place at the right time! When the field you have chosen to exercise your talent is that which God has chosen Himself, you cannot miss out on divine favor. Certainly you will experience difficult circumstances and trials, but you will certainly be successful in the task entrusted to you.
