We know that everything contributes for the good of those who love God, of those who are called according to his plan. Romans 8. 28

What does the word providence mean ?

To say that an event is providential is to recognize it as opportune and unexpected. A Christian will see the action of God where others see the effect of chance. God sovereignly leads, with authority, wisdom and love, all the situations through which his creatures pass.

The Bible never uses the word providence, it affirms that God watches over humans. They always wonder about the action of God in the world, on the way in which he provides for their needs and those of all his creatures. The Christian jumps that circumstances are not fortuitous in a person's life. God himself directs or permits them. "Who has but to speak for something to happen, if the Lord has not ordered it ?" (Lamentations of Jeremiah 3:37). God loves each individual personally and deals with them for the purpose of grace and kindness. He wants to draw us to him. The believer who places his trust in Jesus Christ knows that his whole life is led by God who loves him and wants to do him good. He knows he is one of "those called according to God's plan," even though he feels his love for God is weak.
