Diabolos !

2 Timothy 3:2 and 3 - For men will be... slanderers.

Everything is said through the Greek word which is translated as slanderers, it is the word "diabolos" ! There is no greater evidence : he who slanders is a "devil" ! So why do the children of God lend their mouths to slander ? It’s a mystery and I honestly admit that I don’t understand.

My reflection prompts me to only one answer : these Christians are deceived ! They allow themselves the right to slander because they believe that "the truth must come out" or "that it is not so bad". Not that bad ? What if the eternal fate of the slanderers was that of the great “diabolos” ?

Where does the slander begin ? When I spread more or less accurate "information" about someone in order to damage their reputation ! I might just be a peddler, because I like it, it's crispy, you have to furnish the conversation well... Whether we are the initiator or the appropriate ear-and-mouth. same as the same: diabolos.

The first good decision we might make is to think about why we talk about such and such a person in this way. What is my motivation ? What are my feelings ? Frankly, if the Lord appeared as I speak, would I be confused ?

The second decision would be to never speak negatively about anyone again and if I am confused about so-and-so, to expose him to the Lord in an intercessory prayer.

My beloveds, there are intrinsic truths : if someone slanders "Marcel" in front of you, he will slander you in front of "Marcel". If God's people no longer slandered, they would be much more powerful than they are. A praise that God accepts cannot come out through a mouth that gives itself up to the devil. What a man sows he will also reap, and the harvest will be abundant...

Diabolos !

2 Timothée 3.2 et 3 – Car les hommes seront... calomniateurs.

Tout est dit au travers du mot grec qui est traduit par calomniateurs, c’est le mot « diabolos » ! Il n’y a pas de plus grande évidence : celui qui calomnie est un « diable » ! Alors pourquoi les enfants de Dieu prêtent leur bouche à la calomnie ? C’est un mystère et j’avoue franchement que je ne comprends pas.

Ma réflexion me pousse qu’à une seule réponse : ces chrétiens sont trompés ! Ils s’autorisent le droit de calomnier car ils sont persuadés que « la vérité doit éclater » ou « que ce n’est pas si grave ». Pas si grave ? Et si le sort éternel des calomniateurs était celui du grand « diabolos » ?

Où commence la calomnie ? Quand je propage des « informations » plus ou moins justes sur quelqu’un dans le but de nuire à sa réputation ! Je ne suis peut-être qu’un colporteur, parce que j’aime çà, c’est croustillant, il faut bien meubler la conversation... Que nous soyons l’initiateur ou l’oreille-bouche appropriée, c’est du pareil au même : diabolos.

La première bonne décision que nous pourrions prendre, c’est de réfléchir au pourquoi nous parlons de cette manière de telle ou telle personne. Quelle est ma motivation ? Quels sont mes sentiments ? Franchement, si le Seigneur apparaissait pendant que je parle, serai-je confus(e) ?

La seconde décision serait de ne plus jamais parler négativement sur qui que ce soit et si je suis dans le trouble par rapport à untel, de l’exposer au Seigneur dans une prière d’intercession.

Mes bien-aimés, il y a des vérités intrinsèques : si quelqu’un calomnie « Marcel » devant vous, il vous calomniera devant « Marcel ». Si le peuple de Dieu ne calomniait plus, il serait beaucoup plus puissant qu’il ne l’est. Une louange que Dieu agrée ne peut pas sortir par une bouche qui se livre au diable. Ce qu’un homme sème, il le moissonnera aussi et la récolte sera abondante...

About humility !

Ephesians 4.2 - with all humility and meekness...

I find there is a lot of confusion when it comes to humility. We tend to believe that it manifests itself in outward gestures, yet I have seen some "kick-ass" or "sham" behaviors that were rooted in disproportionate pride.

Humility is also not a feeling of inferiority, blind subordination, or overwhelming submission. In fact humility is knowing who we are in God and what is our sphere of authority and our sphere of submission, for my beloved, we are all faced with exercising authority at certain times and the obedience to others. One does not go without the other and in God, the more we are obedient, the more He will clothe us with authority and let us be well aware that exercising the authority that God has given us is not a lack of 'humility.

Let me take an example : if you are not a handyman and you have a water leak, you will call a plumber. You will submit to his skills and even pay him for it. Imagine that when this one arrives, you say to him : "I have a water leak, so you will make the repair in such and such a way...". One day I received a very strong Word on my heart : "It is not the carpenter who has to tell the cabinetmaker how to make his furniture !".

Yet both work with wood ! In the household and in the community, it is the same thing. Humility will teach me to know my own skills but also my own limits, of whom I am the extension and who is my extension.

Humility will also teach me to trust in the potential of the other, it will bring down all competition, all animosity and all envy. When we are aware of our identity in Christ, we don't need to compete or dominate, nor do we feel overwhelmed.

I leave you with this promise : "Humility precedes glory" (Proverbs 18:12).

The showcase

John 7:24 - Judge not by appearances, but judge by righteousness.

Guess you've been walking around town and strolling around, and just looking at the showcase, just for the sake of taking a walk and watching a bit of what's going on. Depending on our age, the current trend, our social background... we are going to go to this or that showcase that is there just to catch our eye and of course, push us to enter the store to consume. All this, so far seems normal to us !

However, that it was not my surprise one day to hear the wife of a pastor tell me that the platform and of course, everything that was done on it, was the showcase of the church : singers, preachers... This remark left me speechless ! And yes, it does happen to me !

If the platform is seen as a showcase and unfortunately it often is, it forces those who function there to play a role. Recently we heard again from a pastor that for a lot of Christians the pastor should always be smiling, in a suit and tie, and of course everything should go smooth in his life. This mentality puts a strain on those who serve God and often pushes them into some sort of role, which it shouldn't be !

Second, like store showcase, what goes on behind them is often nowhere near as glorious.

Finally, this perspective completely obscures all those who serve God faithfully but have no place on the platform. They are the big part of the iceberg, however, and those who operate on the platform must be well aware that if "these others" weren't here, they wouldn't be here either ! If God has placed us on the platform, let us never forget that we must not have the appearance of godliness and deny that which makes it strong : humility and truth. We will be completely destitute if beside this we do not have a life hidden in God. Let us not forget also that our only ability comes from the Holy Spirit and that if we have received five talents, we are no more merited than the one who received two or one. It is at the end of things that we will know if we have been faithful.

On the other hand, if I find the word showcase inappropriate when practicing ministry, the word mirror seems to correspond much better to me. In fact, our service to God should only be the reflection of our life hidden in God. And let's not forget, "All that glitters is not gold !".

La vitrine

Jean 7.24 – Ne jugez pas selon l’apparence, mais jugez selon la justice.

Je suppose que vous vous êtes déjà promenés en ville afin de flâner, et simplement regarder les vitrines, juste pour le plaisir de faire une ballade et de regarder un peu ce qui se fait. En fonction de notre âge, de la tendance actuelle, de notre milieu social... nous allons nous diriger vers telle ou telle vitrine qui est là juste pour frapper notre regard et bien évidemment, nous pousser à entrer dans le magasin pour consommer. Tout cela, jusqu’ici nous paraît normal !

Pourtant, qu’elle ne fut pas ma surprise un jour d’entendre l’épouse d’un pasteur me dire que l’estrade et bien sûr, tout ce qui se faisait dessus, était la vitrine de l’église : chantres, prédicateurs... Cette remarque m’a laissée bouche bée ! Et oui, cela m’arrive !

Si l’estrade est considérée comme une vitrine et malheureusement c’est souvent le cas, cela oblige ceux qui y fonctionnent à jouer un rôle. Récemment, nous entendions encore un pasteur dire que pour beaucoup de chrétiens, le pasteur doit toujours être souriant, en costume cravate, et bien sûr, tout doit aller nickel dans sa vie. Cette mentalité met un poids sur ceux qui servent Dieu et les pousse bien souvent dans une sorte de rôle, ce qui ne devrait pas être !

Deuxièmement, à l’instar des vitrines des magasins, ce qui se passe derrière celles-ci est souvent loin d’être aussi glorieux.

Enfin, cette optique occulte complètement tous ceux qui servent Dieu fidèlement mais qui n’ont pas leur place sur l’estrade. Ils sont pourtant la grosse partie de l’iceberg et ceux qui fonctionnent sur l’estrade doivent être bien conscients que si « ces autres » n’étaient pas là, ils ne seraient pas là non plus ! Si Dieu nous a placés sur l’estrade, n’oublions jamais qu’il ne faut pas avoir l’apparence de la piété et en renier ce qui en fait la force : l’humilité et la vérité. Nous serons complètement démunis si à côté de cela, nous n’avons pas une vie cachée en Dieu. N’oublions pas aussi que notre seule capacité vient du Saint-Esprit et que si nous avons reçu cinq talents, nous n’avons pas plus de mérite que celui qui en a reçu deux ou un. C’est à la fin des choses que nous saurons si nous avons été fidèles.

D’autre part, si je trouve le mot vitrine inapproprié quand à l’exercice du ministère, le mot miroir me semble bien mieux correspondre. En effet, notre service pour Dieu ne doit être que le reflet de notre vie cachée en Dieu. Et n’oublions pas : « Tout ce qui brille n’est pas or ! ».

Ready for it ?

Luke 15.4 Who among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness to seek her who is lost until ? that he found her ?

I would like us servants of God to learn from the Lord's way ! And to illustrate the approach of the Lord Jesus, we could reflect on the history of the Gerasene. Jesus was surrounded by a crowd who listened intently to his preaching.

Yet He commands his disciples to cross over to the other side of the lake. He himself is very tired as he will sleep soundly during this crossing as a storm is raging. Arrived on the other side, He will free a man from his demons, a great miracle and yet the inhabitants will beg him to go away. We can say with certainty that He touched only one person on this trip. When He crosses the lake again, He will find a crowd eagerly awaiting Him.

This story is the best example of the Good Shepherd who goes to look for a single lost sheep in the night. My beloveds, can we take this thought so far as to examine our own behavior ? Who among us would leave a large crowd, drinking our words, to fetch one person ? If we had two ministry invitations falling at the same time, one 1,000 people in a large hall and the other 5 people in a house, who would choose the house ? Or at least who would seek the face of the Lord to know where he should go ? Can we honestly answer this question ?

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the importance is not the number, but the divine appointment ! Despite a super busy schedule, the Lord knew how to take the time for the individual. I would like to honor pastors who give their all for a very small community. Having attended pastoral care I know that the question that often arises is : "How many members do you have in your community ?". Frustration for those who announce a number below 3 digits. My brothers, you will be rewarded for your loyalty, not for numbers. One to rescue is worth the effort to cover many kilometers despite fatigue and to devote oneself entirely to this task.

Prêts pour cela ?

Luc 15.4 – Lequel d’entre vous, s’il a cent brebis et qu’il en perde une, ne laisse pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres dans le désert pour aller à la recherche de celle qui est perdue jusqu’à ce qu’il l’ait retrouvée ?

J’aimerais que nous, serviteurs de Dieu, nous tirions exemple de la façon de faire du Seigneur ! Et pour illustrer la démarche du Seigneur Jésus, nous pourrions réfléchir à l’histoire du Gérasénien. Jésus était entouré d’une foule qui écoutait attentivement sa prédication.

Pourtant, Il commande à ses disciples de passer de l’autre côté du lac. Lui-même est très fatigué puisqu’Il va dormir profondément lors de cette traversée alors qu’une tempête fait rage. Arrivé de l’autre côté, Il va libérer un homme de ses démons, grand miracle et pourtant, les habitants vont le prier de s’en aller. Nous pouvons dire avec certitude qu’Il n’a touché qu’une seule personne lors de ce voyage. Quand Il retraversera le lac, Il retrouvera une foule qui L’attend avec impatience.

Cette histoire est le plus bel exemple du Bon Berger qui va chercher une seule brebis perdue dans la nuit. Mes bien-aimés, pouvons-nous pousser la réflexion jusqu’à examiner notre propre comportement ? Qui d’entre nous laisserait une foule nombreuse, qui boit nos paroles, pour aller chercher une seule personne ? Si nous avions deux invitations à exercer le ministère qui tombent en même temps, d’un côté 1.000 personnes dans une grande salle et de l’autre 5 personnes dans une maison, qui choisirait la maison ? Ou du moins qui chercherait la face du Seigneur pour savoir où il doit aller ? Pouvons-nous répondre honnêtement à cette question ?

Chers frères et sœurs en Christ, l’importance n’est pas le nombre, mais le rendez-vous divin ! Malgré un planning super chargé, le Seigneur a su prendre le temps pour l’individu. J’aimerais honorer les pasteurs qui se donnent à fond pour une très petite communauté. Pour avoir fréquenté les pastorales je sais que la question qui se pose souvent c’est : « Combien de membres as-tu dans ta communauté ? ». Frustration pour ceux qui annoncent un nombre en dessous des 3 chiffres. Mes frères, vous serez récompensés en fonction de votre fidélité, pas en fonction du nombre. Un seul à secourir vaut la peine de faire de nombreux kilomètres malgré la fatigue et de se consacrer entièrement à cette tâche.

Cords of love !

Hosea 11.4 (Sower) - It was by bonds of human tenderness and cords of love that I led him...

This verse expresses all the “frustration” of the Heavenly Father. He brought Israel out of Egypt by mighty miracles, He took care of it in the desert, meeting all its basic needs, He gave it a wonderful land and yet... It remained rebellious, provocative and disobedient. He literally trampled on all the love that the Lord had shown him.

Do you know that the Lord wants to lead us with "cords of love" ? “My yoke is easy and my burden is light” Jesus told us (Matthew 11:30) ! However, are we submissive enough to accept this yoke and burden ? The behavior of so many Christians today leads us to believe that they have no god or master and have made a firm decision to do what they want !

Yet if we pay attention, we will feel those bonds of tenderness that draw us to Him. We will see that the feelings that animate Him are fatherly and motherly, seeking the path to safety for our lives. Let us never doubt that if God is slowing us down, pushing us to the left or to the right, it is for our full development and protection ! When we let Him take the reins of our life, He leads us with ropes of love.

My beloved, we are blessed if we have understood that all the directives of his Word are only bonds of tenderness ! We so often have a distorted picture of who our God is. Too often we still think of Him as uncompromising and tough. If only we would accept to let ourselves be overcome by his affection for us. Yes God loves you with a very special love and He desires to lead you towards the green pastures.

Des cordes d'amour !

Osée 11.4 (Semeur) – C’est par des liens d’une tendresse tout humaine et des cordes d’amour que je le conduisais...

Ce verset exprime toute la « frustration » du Père Céleste. Il a fait sortir Israël d’Égypte par des miracles puissants, Il en a pris soin au désert, répondant à tous ses besoins essentiels, Il lui a donné un merveilleux pays et pourtant... Celui-ci est resté rebelle, provocateur et désobéissant. Il a littéralement piétiné tout l’amour que l’Éternel lui a manifesté.

Savez-vous que le Seigneur veut nous conduire avec des « cordes d’amour » ? « Mon joug est doux et mon fardeau léger » nous a dit Jésus (Matthieu 11.30) ! Cependant, sommes-nous suffisamment soumis pour accepter ce joug et ce fardeau ? Le comportement de tant de chrétiens aujourd’hui nous laisse à penser qu’ils n’ont ni dieu ni maître et qu’ils ont pris une décision ferme de faire ce qu’ils veulent !

Pourtant si nous prêtons attention, nous sentirons ces liens de tendresse qui nous attirent à Lui. Nous verrons que les sentiments qui L’animent sont paternels et maternels, cherchant le chemin de la sécurité pour nos vies. Ne doutons jamais que si Dieu nous freine, nous pousse vers la gauche ou vers la droite, c’est pour notre entier épanouissement et notre protection ! Quand nous Le laissons prendre les rênes de notre vie, Il nous conduit avec des cordes d’amour.

Mes bien-aimés, nous sommes bienheureux si nous avons compris que toutes les directives de sa Parole ne sont que des liens de tendresse ! Nous avons tellement souvent une image déformée de qui est notre Dieu. Nous pensons trop souvent encore qu’Il est intransigeant et dur. Si seulement nous acceptions de nous laisser envahir par son affection pour nous. Oui Dieu t’aime d’un amour tout particulier et Il désire te conduire vers les verts pâturages.

Heaven on earth !

Matthew 6.10 - ... Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

We could translate this verse like this : "May your will which is done in heaven come into existence on earth or arise in our history !". Do you know that there is a parallel world ? There is the natural but also the supernatural, the physical but also the spiritual! The supernatural of God seeks a point of contact in the natural for the miraculous to come into existence in the physical world.

The Lord Jesus was that point of contact. Did He not say : "Verily, verily, henceforth you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man" ? (John 1.51).

Jacob's Ladder is another example of the spiritual breaking into the physical. Moses, entered the supernatural to see the existence of the Tabernacle as it was to be on earth (Hebrews 8:5). God is looking for men and women who will be this point of contact that will bring about the perfect will of God, his will to heal, to save, to deliver humanity ; men and women who will bring to earth what is happening in heaven !

My beloveds, you and I can be this point of contact ! For this we need to open our minds to the supernatural of God, to have that faith that calls into existence what does not yet exist in our history. We can, like Moses, make a foray into the supernatural to “see” the will of God, to “see” the sick person healed, to “see” the abundant life reserved for the children of God... Not only to see, but also to bring to existence, to realization, in our physical reality.

May we be this point of contact, this ladder of blessing where the angels come to bring to earth all the graces that are before the throne of God. Yes Lord, make me this point of contact between heaven and earth and may your will be "feast" !
